'Art & Vélo' Cycle Tour of Dongshankou

6 kilometers; 1:30 - 5:00pm

This tour can also be booked for other days, with a minimum of 4 guests.

Get funky on this astonishing tour in the culturally rich Dongshankou neighborhood, where lines of East and West meet. Packed with 100-150 year-old historic buildings, this is the breeding ground for both Nationalists and Communists. Get lost in 19th-century Guangzhou and learn how Dongshankou made a revival to become Guangzhou's hippest destination. We start with a visit to Fei Gallery, Guangzhou's oldest art exhibition. We then ride through small streets and alleyways that are lined with historic villas from the 1920s, as we stumble across boutique fashion stores, hip coffee shops, and speakeasy cocktail bars. We have a break at Triple Rooster coffee shop and art gallery for handcrafted drinks and snacks, and pass by the Dongshan Baptist Church. Riding through more tree-lined streets and the Xinhepu canal, we finish at Kuiyuan Gallery for more art and a balcony-view over the neighborhood. Join once, and you'll find yourself flocking back to Dongshankou all the time!

GO LOCAL

Ride on China’s classical Fenghuang ('Phoenix') bicycles. These are what Katie Melua refers to when she sings about "nine million bicycles in Beijing". We replaced most parts for increased safety and comfort, while retaining its famous look. The locals will be giving you jealous looks!
We have done, and continue doing, extensive research into the Guangzhou's past, present and future. Besides the dozens of books, magazines, and articles we went through, many of the stories we learned from talking to the locals on the streets along our route. The stories we share with you, are the real folk stories that cannot be found in travel guides! Furthermore, we share old pictures of the places we visit, showing you the immense change of this thriving city! Along the tours we provide you with water and local snacks
