On our award-winning 'Old to New - Hidden Gems' Tour we take you off-the-beaten track and bring you deep into the heart of the city. An authentic experience bringing you from Old to New Guangzhou: from the traditional and historic neighborhoods, to the shiny skyscrapers of modern China. Visit historic buildings, greenways, an ancestral hall and wet market. Meet a famous kungfu master and mingle with the locals over a dance and game of hackysack in People's Park. Ride along the Pearl River and Ersha Island, and learn stories about the development and architecture of the Guangzhou's modern skyscrapers. Meet the friendly locals and experience the contrasts of contemporary urban China. Our professional and fun guides, small groups, a route almost entirely away from traffic and a slow pace of riding, will make this a great afternoon. Everything you need, from bike to water, and snacks to guide, is included and taken care of.

HOW TO BOOK

This tour is offered for 420 CNY/adult, 250 CNY/riding child and 80 CNY for children in bike seats. Included in the price is everything you need: bike, helmet, guide, water, drinks and snacks. Tours can be booked for fixed dates (see the monthly schedule on the Home page), or for most other days. This tour could also be offered as a private walking tour.

For bookings, please reserve ahead of time (ideally 3 or more days in advance) by clicking the green 'Book this Tour' button at the top of the page. Leave your details, and we will respond to you on email or WeChat on availability for the chosen date. If you cannot pay WeChat or AliPay, please be in touch for other options.

CHANGES AND CANCELLATIONS

Full refunds are provided when cancelling or changing the date more than 48 hours prior to departure. Cancellations between 24 and 48 hours before departure can claim a 50% refund. No refunds are provided for no-shows or cancellations within 24 hours of departure. 

 

WHERE TO MEET

We meet at Happy Monk on Jianshe 5 Ma Lu in Taojin (Yuexiu District). If you have any problems finding the place, you can contact us at 15626406926. We meet at 1:20pm and will depart at 1:35pm at the latest. We finish at Morgan's on Huajiu Lu in Zhujiang New Town. 

 

GO LOCAL

Ride on China’s classical Fenghuang ('Phoenix') bicycles. These are what Katie Melua refers to when she sings about "nine million bicycles in Beijing". We replaced most parts for increased safety and comfort, while retaining its famous look. The locals will be giving you jealous looks!
We have done, and continue doing, extensive research into the Guangzhou's past, present and future. Besides the dozens of books, magazines, and articles we went through, many of the stories we learned from talking to the locals on the streets along our route. The stories we share with you, are the real folk stories that cannot be found in travel guides! Furthermore, we share old pictures of the places we visit, showing you the immense change of this thriving city! Along the tours we provide you with water and local snacks.
